The Andhra Pradesh government is set to lay the foundation stone in October 2025 for the Arcelor Mittal–Nippon Steel (AM&NS) mega integrated steel plant in Anakapalli district, with completion targeted by the end of 2028.
Industries & Commerce Minister TG Bharat confirmed that up to 6,000 acres of land have been acquired and pollution clearance is expected by September. The initiative is part of a broader effort to attract major investments and boost industrial development. Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is engaging directly with the Jindal Group to revive plans for a steel plant in Kadapa district, long delayed despite being mandated under the AP State Reorganization Act, 2014.
The Minister emphasised that reviving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), now financially stabilised, remains a top priority. In recent months, Andhra Pradesh has approved multiple industrial projects with investments ranging from Rs 100 crore to Rs 5,000 crore, spanning solar, pharma, and semiconductor sectors.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace is exploring a testing facility at Sriharikota, while South Korean and Taiwanese firms plan semiconductor plants. New industrial policies under AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024–29) are positioning the state as a leader in ease of doing business and industrial growth.
