Jindal Steel has commissioned its first continuous galvanising line (CGL 1) at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha, marking a major step in expanding its coated steel portfolio. The new facility will manufacture galvanised and galvalume products under the Jindal Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME brands, targeting sectors like automotive, appliances, infrastructure, and construction.
CGL 1 can process steel thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths between 700 mm and 1,400 mm, ensuring consistent quality and high precision. The Jindal Panther Galvanised range includes full hard, soft, and skin-passed steel used in air conditioners, electrical panels, ducting, silos, and more. These are also suited as base material for pre-painted galvanised iron (PPGI). ZINKALUME products, coated with aluminium, silicon, and zinc, offer superior corrosion resistance and thermal durability, ideal for solar structures, fuel tanks, and pre-painted galvalume (PPGL) uses.
The line also produces thinner HR galvanised coils and high-strength steel for automotive underbody parts. Jindal Steel plans to expand Angul’s crude steel capacity to 12 MTPA by end-2025.
