Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (IC) Jitendra Singh laid the foundation stone for the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) marketing complex in Guwahati, Assam, on 4 September 2019.
The marketing complex will come up at Six Mile, Guwahati, in a land measuring 2,007 sq mtr (1.5 bigha) with support of the North Eastern Council (NEC). The building will be constructed in two phases.
In Phase-I, Block-I office-cum-market complex of the building will be developed up to fourth floor and Block-II (guest house) will be developed up to first floor. The cost of the project is Rs 13.15 crore.
The construction of the building is funded by the North Eastern Council under its scheme for ‘Marketing support agri-horti produce in North Eastern region’.
The building will be developed as a ‘Green Building’ and one of the state-of-the-art land mark buildings in the region.
The building will have provisions for an Agri-Horti Retails Hub wherein all farmers and entrepreneurs of the North East will get a common platform to showcase and sell their products.
The proposed NERAMAC complex will also have provisions for accommodating agri-horti related government departments under a single roof for better coordination and provide single window facilitation centre to the farmers’ groups/ entrepreneurs to avail schemes of the government.
