Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on August 25 laid the foundation stone for the reconductoring of high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors of nine 132 kV transmission lines at Bodhjung Nagar near Agartala.
The Rs 126.33-crore project, undertaken by Tripura Power Transmission (TPTL) with funding from the DoNER Ministry’s Special Infrastructure Development Project, aims to modernise the state’s power sector. Minister Nath said uninterrupted supply is essential for growth as demand is projected to rise to 700 MW by 2031-32.
Since 2018, 132 kV substations have increased from 12 to 20, with two more in progress, while 33 kV substations have expanded from 44 to 75. The Minister noted Tripura now supplies 23 hours of power daily, though challenges like overloading, and storms persist.
Stressing renewable adoption, he also announced electric trains at Agartala Railway Station from August 27 and promotion of PM Surya Ghar.
