Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has approved an investment of nearly Rs 210 crore in a key interstate power transmission project.

In a filing. the company said its Committee of Directors on Investment approved the “North-Eastern Region Expansion Scheme – XXIII (NERES-XXIII)” at an estimated cost of Rs 209.38 crore. The project, allocated by Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) on 04 August, 2025, under the regulated tariff mechanism, is scheduled for commissioning within 30 months of project allocation.

NERES-XXIII, cleared by the National Committee on Transmission in July 2025, aims to support an additional industrial demand of about 100 MW in Arunachal Pradesh, while also supplying power during construction of upcoming hydropower projects. The scheme will enhance grid reliability in the state’s largely 132kV single-circuit network. Project elements include stringing of second circuits on three 132kV lines—Pasighat–Roing (103 km), Roing–Tezu (73 km), and Tezu–Namsai (95 km)—totaling 270 km, alongside six new AIS line bays at four substations
