On 20 November 2007, Andhra Pradesh
Chief Minister, Dr Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy is scheduled to lay the foundation
stone for Uranium Corporation of India's Rs.1,106.25 crore uranium mining and
processing plant at Thummalapalle in Kadapa district.
The plant proposed under the
Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), will have a capacity of 3,000 tpd and only
underground mining will take place. UCIL has acquired 1,122 acres of government
land and 1,118 acres of private land in N. Thummalapalle, Tachakundapalle, KK
Kottaland and Mabbuchinthalapalle villages in Pulivendula.
The project is expected to be ready
within 36 months.
