Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna laid the foundation stone for two road under bridges (RUBs) in Belagavi—at the Fourth Railway Gate in Anagol and the Khanapur Railway Station Yard, on 15 September, 2025.
The Minister flagged off the Hubballi–Dadar Central Express with a new stop at Khanapur. Minister Somanna announced that around 300 ROB and RUB projects are underway across Karnataka, fully funded by the Central government. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure efforts in Belagavi, Hubballi, and Dharwad, including two additional RUBs in Tilakwadi, Belagavi.
Under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, Karnataka’s modernised stations rose from 61 to 66, with Rs 2,000 crore in Central funds. Belagavi district station upgrades include Rs 18.5 crore for Ghataprabha, Rs 18.6 crore for Raibag, Rs 15 crore for Belagavi, and Rs 17 crore for Gokak. On the long-pending Belagavi–Dharwad railway line via Kittur, Minister Somanna said that tenders are out and land acquisition is complete in Belagavi. He assured the Rs 937-crore project will commence soon.
