The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) successfully conducted a full-length timetable trial of the Namo Bharat train on 22 June, 2025, covering the 82-km corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut in under an hour. The train achieved a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph and stopped at every station while maintaining punctuality.
"This marks a significant operational milestone in the implementation of India’s first Namo Bharat corridor, connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut," NCRTC stated. The trial also featured simultaneous operations of Meerut Metro trains on the same infrastructure, a first in India, where local metro services and high-speed regional trains share tracks. NCRTC highlighted the transformational impact of the project, stating, "People can now work in cities like Delhi, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar while continuing to live in their hometowns, closer to their families."
The hybrid signalling system and platform screen doors (PSDs) installed at all stations functioned seamlessly during the trial. Currently, 11 stations are operational on the 55-km New Ashok Nagar–Meerut South stretch. Trial runs and finishing works are ongoing for the remaining 4.5 km in Delhi and 23 km in Meerut, which includes 13 Meerut Metro stations.
