GAIL India has invited EoIs for its coal-based fertilizer-cum-ammonium nitrate plant at Talcher, in Angul district of Odisha.
EoIs have been invited for pre-qualification of licensors of coal gasification technology for the proposed coal-based fertilizer-cum-ammonium nitrate plant at Talcher.
The company had invited EoIs for similar work in September, 2013. The reason for the revision of this tender has not yet been disclosed.
The proposed project is being undertaken by the GAIL led consortium of Coal India, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers (RCF), and Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCIL). The project will be of a size to produce ammonium synthesis gas sufficient to be utilised as a feed for production of 2,700 million tonne per day ammonia; 3,850 million tonne per day ammonia urea; and 1,000 million tonne per day of ammonium nitrate.
The unit will be set up by an SPV (of the consortium) on LSTK (lumpsum turnkey) basis through a competitive bidding process. The selected licensors will be required to have five per cent equity in the SPV.
