GHCL, India’s second-largest soda ash producer, plans to nearly double its production capacity from 1.2 million tonne to 2.3 million tonne per annum by 2030.
The Rs 6,500-crore greenfield project in Gujarat’s Kutch district is expected to start construction within six to seven months, following land acquisition and environmental clearances. The expansion, comprising a two-phase addition of 1.1 million tonne, targets the growing solar glass segment linked to India’s 300 GW solar power goal. The new facility will feature advanced, energy-efficient technology to enhance environmental sustainability.
GHCL will finance the project through a balanced mix of debt and equity, leveraging its strong financial position. The company remains confident about absorbing increasing domestic demand despite import challenges.
