Tata Chemicals has approved the construction of a greenfield manufacturing facility at Valinokkam, near the Ramnathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 515 crore.

The new facility will focus on producing iodised vacuum salt dried (IVSD), with an annual production capacity of 210 kilo tonne per annum (KTPA). The project is expected to be completed within 36 months. The company plans to fund the project through a mix of internal accruals and/or external financing. Currently, Tata Chemicals operates an IVSD manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 1.6 million tonne at its Mithapur plant in Gujarat.

The new plant in South India will serve to enhance the company's supply chain efficiency and reduce logistics costs. This investment marks Tata Chemicals' commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in the region.
