After a delay of over three years, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has finally advanced the long-awaited 100 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) in Sector-107 to serve the Dwarka Expressway corridor.
Initially announced in May 2022 by the then Chief Minister, the project faced hurdles over land transfer modalities. GMDA had earmarked 49.9 acres in Daultabad for Rs 179.75 crore, but disputes over whether land would be leased or handed over free stalled progress. Resolution came only in May 2025, when GMDA secured possession after depositing Rs 50 crore of the Rs 74.13 crore acquisition cost with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.
The first phase will see construction of the 100 MLD plant, forming part of a larger 350 MLD sewage management plan for Sectors 81 to 115. Officials said the new facility will help curb untreated sewage discharge into drains and water bodies. "A consultant has been engaged who will outline design, technical aspects, and costs," a GMDA official confirmed.
