The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced plans to reconstruct two vital roads connecting IFFCO Chowk to Old Railway Road and Old Railway Road to Basai Chowk near the Dwarka Expressway.
An estimated Rs 55 crore will be spent on the project which will pass through densely populated areas of Old Gurugram, with approvals expected from the Chief Minister soon. The first part of the project involves rebuilding the road from Basai Chowk to Old Railway Road, estimated to cost Rs 22 crore. Along with the roadwork, a stormwater drain will be constructed to address flooding issues that affect about 20 residential colonies in the area. The second part of the project, covering Old Railway Road to IFFCO Chowk, is estimated at Rs 33 crore.
Once completed, these roads will improve connectivity between the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, providing relief to daily commuters. "The authority will take up the construction of these two roads as a priority," said a senior GMDA official.
