Gujarat State Petroleum has reportedly
shortlisted five entities that would partner the company in bringing to
production its recent gas discovery in the KG basin. The five entities
shortlisted include Chevron, British Gas, ENI, British Petroleum and Royal Dutch
Shell. Consultancy firm UBS is association with the partner-selection process
that is expected to be finalized in September 2006.
GSPC in July 2005 had struck gas at
the KG-OSN-2001/3 block in the Krishna-Godavari Basin offshore Andhra Pradesh.
The discovery, now named Deen Dayal, is claimed to hold 20 trillion cubic feet
of gas valued at over $50 billion. However, a report by the Directorate General
of Hydrocarbons has stated the total reserves in the Deen Dayal block are 3.61
tcf.
