Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL) has commissioned the 12
inch diameter, 25-km Mora-Utran pipeline in the state. The pipeline has a
capacity to carry 1.5 MMSCM gas per day and has been built at a cost of Rs.30
crore.
The pipeline would carry gas to the Gujarat Electricity
Board's (GEB) Utran power station. According to a contract between GSPL and
GEB, GSPL would transport 2.25 lakh MMSCM gas per day to Utran.
The pipeline would also be used for transportation of
LNG to other major consumers in the area from the various LNG terminals that
are coming up in south Gujarat.
With the completion of this section, GSPL has
successfully commissioned 84 kms of pipeline. The completed sections, include
Hazira-Mora (14 km), Amboli-Dahej (45 km) and Mora-Utran (25 km). Another 40 km
stretch of pipeline - Bhadbhut-Paguthan (30 km) and Suvali-Mora (10 km) is
nearing completion.
Presently, the GSPL is working on another 200 kms of
the pipeline network including the Paguthan-Vadodara stretch and the
Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Kalol line. This is scheduled for completion in the next 12
to 18 months.
