Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company is planning to set up a new manufacturing plant for home appliances in South India.
The proposed plant may come up in the southern India at an investment of Rs 100 crore by 2016. The plant will have an initial capacity of 10 lakh units per annum. Currently, the company is scouting for suitable location for the plant. At present, the firm has two plants for home appliances at Mohali in Punjab and Shirwal near Pune in Maharashtra, with a total production capacity of 2.4 million units per annum. These facilities manufacture various items like refrigerators, air conditioners (ACs), washing machines and microwaves.
