Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL), a major emerging markets FMCG company, has inaugurated its first integrated greenfield manufacturing plant in Chengalpattu district, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The plant was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru MK Stalin, alongside Nadir Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group, and Sudhir Sitapati, MD & CEO of GCPL.
The operations began with the ceremonial activation of the production line by Thiru MK Stalin, resulting in the first production run of the iconic Cinthol Original soap bar. GCPL is investing approx. Rs 515 crore in this facility over the next five years, marking its largest single investment to boost production capabilities. Spanning 27 acres, the plant was completed within a record time of 13 months. The facility is expected to enhance GCPL's operational efficiency, drive local economic growth, and contribute to employment generation, particularly focusing on women’s empowerment.
During the inauguration, Thiru M. K.
