A comprehensive roadmap for Greater Bengaluru’s development is nearing completion and will be presented to the state Cabinet at its next meeting, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on 07 July, 2025.
“We are in the process of finalising it (development of Greater Bengaluru),” he said, marking a significant advance in the government’s urban governance overhaul.
The initiative follows Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s May declaration that the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act would replace the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) with a new Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Deputy CM had previously stated that BBMP’s re-division would conclude by September 15, clearing the way for the GBA’s formation. In preparation, he and GBA officials undertook a study tour to Delhi in June, meeting Municipal Corporation of Delhi authorities to review best practices in urban planning, waste management, and construction by-laws.
