On 13 December, 2025, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 600 crore for Surat, aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and improving facilities for residents.
The Chief Minister inaugurated projects worth Rs 249 crore by the Surat Municipal Urban Development Authority (SUDA) and laid the foundation stone for further initiatives valued at Rs. 109.51 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation for other key projects worth Rs 242 crore to be developed by the Urban Regional Development Corporation (URDCL).
Addressing the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasised the progress Gujarat is making under his leadership, alongside the nation. He highlighted Surat’s rising standards in cleanliness and urban development, noting that the completion of the Outer Ring Road will significantly ease traffic congestion. "Today, Gujarat is progressing alongside the entire country, and Surat is setting a benchmark in cleanliness and infrastructure development," he remarked.
