Days after the Mahisagar river bridge collapse in Vadodara district in Gujarat, the state government has sanctioned Rs 212 crore for constructing a parallel two-lane bridge.
According to The New Indian Express, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on 13 July, 2025 granted administrative approval to the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department to build the new bridge near Mujpur, connecting Vadodara and Anand districts. The government has set a target to complete the new structure within 18 months, with the tendering process already underway. A recent survey enabled the R&B Department to prepare a detailed project report.
Superintending Engineer NV Rathva announced plans to widen the two-lane Mujpur approach road to four lanes, along with developing a 4.2-km stretch from the highway to the new bridge site.
