HCL group, the IT major, is looking forward to entering the health sector by investing Rs 1,000 crore to develop outpatient multi-speciality clinics across India.
Multi-speciality clinics will function under the name of HCL Avitas. HCL Healthcare, the healthcare part of the group, is in discussions with hospital chains to partner with the company in tertiary care.
HCL Healthcare was provided funding through HCL Corporation, the holding company of HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems, which started operations by taking over two Bharat Family Clinic branches in the National Capital Region in New Delhi.
The multi-speciality clinics will provide value-added services such as personalised relationship managers and electronic medical records to patients. Also, it will offer in-house services such as diagnostics, pharmacies and radiology.
In the beginning, the company will focus on expanding these clinics, but at a later stage it also plans to enter into secondary and tertiary care and develop its own hospitals.
In the initial stage, the group is looking forward to expanding its healthcare division in northern India.
