Hindusthan National Glass and Industries (HNG) on 10 February 2011 commenced
construction of its glass manufacturing complex at Naidupeta in Nellore district
of Andhra Pradesh.
The company has begun work on the Phase I of the complex which is being taken
up at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore. On completion, the facility will house
three container glass plants and two float glass plants having a capacity of
3,500 tpd. The Phase I is expected to go on stream by March 2012.
The entire complex is to come up on a 210-acre site. It will comprise a
single large furnace with a capacity of 650 tpd and a large container glass
end-port fired furnace of 175 sq mtrs. The furnace for container glass has been
designed by German companies Zippe and Horne. Emhart Glass will supply the
latest glass bottle forming machines.
Also, plans are afoot to set up a 1.5 MW waste heat-powered power plant for
captive consumption and a housing colony to accommodate over 500 families in the
campus.
