The Haryana government has directed the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to expedite the delivery of potable water to residential sectors in Sohna through a water treatment plant (WTP) at Ghamroj.
The directive was issued by DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development, during a high-level meeting held on July 14, according to officials. The HSVP aims to provide treated water to Sohna sectors-1, 2, 4, 5, 33, 35, and 36. Following the direction given, authorities have decided to reassess water demand, explore multiple supply options, and escalate the matter to higher authorities in Chandigarh.
Vaishali Singh, Administrator of HSVP Gurugram, stated, “We are working with the public health department to find a way forward for supplying water to Sohna. There are a number of options such as setting up a new booster station at Ghamroj or laying a new line, but both projects need approval from higher authorities.” Residents, meanwhile, continue to rely on costly private water tankers.
