Hindustan Zinc (HZL), a Vedanta Group company, is set to launch its Rs 1,700-crore fertiliser plant in Rajasthan by December 2026, according to CEO Arun Misra.
The facility aims to reduce India’s dependency on imported diammonium phosphate (DAP) by producing DAP and NPK fertilisers domestically. Speaking at the FT Live Energy Transition Summit India, Misra stated, “The fertiliser plant is under construction now and we see it coming up by December 2026.”
The project’s first phase, a phosphoric acid unit, is expected to be operational by March- April 2026, followed by DAP production. The plant is positioned to meet the growing fertiliser demand in India, where DAP is currently heavily imported.
