Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a new Taj hotel in Pondicherry, marking a significant expansion for the brand in the region.
The hotel, set to be located on the outskirts of White Town, will cover 52 acres and offer 180 rooms. Designed as a greenfield project, Taj Pondicherry aims to cater to the rising demand for large-scale social events in the area. With a variety of dining options, including an all-day restaurant, two specialty restaurants, and a lounge, the hotel will also feature the largest indoor banquet hall in the region, measuring 10,700 sq. ft..
"We are happy to venture into the hospitality sector with IHCL. This hotel will be a landmark destination in the region,” said MK Rajagopalan from MGM Healthcare. This development follows the recent announcement of Hilton's expansion in Chennai, further emphasising the growing hospitality industry in South India. The 195-room hotel project will be developed in collaboration with MKR Estate Developers, a division of the MGM Healthcare Group.
