The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), which owns the Taj brand, plans to take its
new brands - Vivanta by Taj and Gateway Hotels - to the overseas markets.
The company will have two Vivanta by Taj (five-star offering), one each in
Maldives and Sri Lanka. The company will also convert one of its properties in
Sri Lanka into a Gateway Hotel (four-star offering).
Besides, IHCL also has 47 projects under various stages of construction worth
$3 billion (approx Rs 13,800 crore). Of this, 75 per cent will be under
management contract and the remaining will be distributed between JVs and own
investment.
