On 12 February 2007, Indian Oil has
emerged as the top bidder for additional land for fuel stations at Kolkata and
Chennai airports. The other entities in the fray were Reliance Industries and
Essar Oil.
The bids were opened by Airports
Authority of India and based changes imposed on every litre of fuel sold to an
airline. For Chennai airport, IOC won with a bid of Rs.1,201 per kilo litre,
while RIL bid for Rs.840 per kilo litre and for Kolkata airport, RIL bid for
Rs.720 per kilo litre and Essar Oil and BPCL quoted Rs.178 and Rs.110 per kilo
litre respectively.
RIL currently has a mandate to supply
aviation on fuel to smaller airports like Baroda, Bhuj, Gaya, Lucknow, Nagpur,
Ahmedabad and others where AAI recently allowed fresh bids.
