ITI, India’s first public sector undertaking in telecom manufacturing, has signed an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) as the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for the BharatNet Phase-3 Project’s NER-II (North Eastern Region) Package-15.
The agreement, signed on behalf of the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), involves a project valued at Rs 1,901 crore. The total contract value includes Rs 1,168 crore for capital expenditure (capex), Rs 700.84 crore for operational expenditure (opex) related to the new network, and Rs 32.21 crore for opex concerning maintenance of the existing infrastructure.
This package covers the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur. In November 2024, ITI, along with its consortium partner, had emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for this package.
