India's natural gas pipeline network has grown to over 25,000 km as part of the country's effort to build a fully connected national gas grid.
The government is currently expanding this network by an additional 10,459 km. To make gas more affordable and accessible, the "One Nation, One Grid, One Tariff" system was introduced, standardising transportation charges across 90 percent of the pipelines. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, aimed at providing clean cooking fuel, has benefited 10.35 crore households by December 2025. To speed up LPG access, the government simplified the eligibility process and approved the release of 25 lakh new connections. LPG consumption has steadily increased as affordability has been supported through targeted subsidies.
Additionally, over 90,000 retail outlets were upgraded with digital payment options, and 12.12 crore safety checks were conducted to ensure consumer safety. The government is also focusing on increasing domestic oil and gas production, with 172 exploration blocks awarded.
