India is formulating the Automotive Mission Plan (AMP) 2047, establishing phase-wise goals to advance the nation’s automotive sector. The plan, developed under the guidance of seven expert sub-committees, will focus on milestone years 2030, 2037, and 2047.
These sub-committees comprise specialists from government, industry, and academia, tasked with consolidating ideas to shape the country’s long-term automotive strategy. The AMP 2047 aims to integrate the collective vision of all key stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), auto component makers, policymakers, academia, and end-users. It will address challenges such as technological advancements, charging infrastructure, and the transition to sustainable mobility.
An official statement confirmed that the sub-committees will compile recommendations and present them to an apex committee, chaired by Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) Secretary Kamran Rizvi. The comprehensive roadmap is intended to ensure India becomes a competitive and sustainable player in the global automotive industry by its centenary year of independence.
