Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), on 9 January 2012, signed an MoU with Yunnan Tourism Co to open hotels in Yunnan Province of China.
The MoU envisages cooperation for a JV with Yunnan Tourism Co to engage in the development, construction, operation and management of two hotels in Kunming Expo Garden situated in Yunnan province. While the Taj Hotel, which will be a luxury full service hotel, resort and palaces with 200 rooms, the Vivanta by Taj will have about 300 rooms. However, financial details of the hotel project have not been disclosed. Besides, Taj will also manage a 300-room key luxury resort in Hainan Island.
