The Indian Railways have proposed to start a bullet train services between Nagpur and Mumbai, which will cover the approximately 766 km distance in just three and a half hours, along the soon-to-be-ready Samruddhi Expressway.
The train is expected to travel at the highest speed of 350 km per hour. Currently, it takes a minimum of 12 hours to travel the same distance.
The detailed project report (DPR) of the high-speed connectivity project will be ready by the end of February 2022. It will be prepared by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL).
The superfast train has been proposed along the Samruddhi Highway project. The railways already have 70 percent land in its possession and only the remaining 30 percent need to be acquired for the project.
