Indian Railways plans to develop mega coaching terminals in 20 major cities across India to improve train-handling capacity.
These terminals will be strategically placed in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, where there is significant demand for incoming and departing trains. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, especially during peak travel times and festivals. One of the key projects underway is in Ahmedabad, where a terminal will allow for increase in train handling, from 45 to 150 trains.
Similarly, other terminals, including one in Surat, are planned to meet growing travel demands. The project is part of a broader effort to ease congestion, improve connectivity, and ensure smoother operations across India's railway network.
