On 11 January 2010, APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, inaugurated
Indus Westside Hospital, with super speciality facility and dedicated burns ward
ICU and true isolation ward at Kengeri in Bangalore.
The hospital with a built-up area of 1,10,000 sq ft has been set up with an
investment of Rs 100 crore. The hospital is equipped with 200 beds and 45 in the
ICU unit. It has six operation theatres and a cardiovascular cathlab.
The hospital has invested Rs 100 crore in Phase I and plans to invest Rs 300
crore in the next two phases, according to sources. Initially, the hospital is
planning to focus on Karnataka, and then look to expand into Rajasthan and Tamil
Nadu. It has plans to set up a second hospital in Bangalore while also mulling
hi-tech hospitals in tier-II and tier-III cities in Karnataka.
