Infosys Technologies has proposed to
develop its second campus at Hyderabad with an investment of Rs.1,250 crore. The
proposed campus will induct 25,000 people over the next ten years.
Infosys would require 550 acres of
land for the project, out of which 150 acres (representing Phase I) has been
identified by the Andhra Pradesh government.
The IT major already has a campus in
Hyderabad that houses 5,200 employees. There are plans to invest Rs.225 crore to
create capacity for an additional 4,000 people by end-December 2006. When
Infosys began its operations in Hyderabad, it had indicated that it would invest
Rs.100 crore an employ 2,000 people. As of March 2006, Infosys had invested
Rs.275 crore in the campus and was employing 5,200 people.
