To boost industrial growth and urban expansion, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has been entrusted with the development of four major industrial zones and the ambitious Greater Kanpur project, with a combined investment of Rs 2,240 crore.
A four-member committee, led by KDA Secretary Abhay Pandey, has been formed to identify suitable land and submit a report within 15 days to guide blueprint creation and land acquisition. The industrial zones include a Medicine City, Mega MSME Park, EV Park, and Knowledge Park. These will be located in Bhimsen, near the Defence Corridor, and Naramau, near IIT Kanpur. Additionally, Greater Kanpur township, inspired by Greater Noida, will be developed between Mandhna and Bhaunti bypass.
Medicine City will be developed at a cost of Rs 360 crore, 100 acres in Bhimsen, to house hospitals, medical units, and a relocated wholesale market. Knowledge Park will entail a cost of Rs 880 crore, 359 acres in Naramau, to be an educational hub. A Mega MSME Park will be set up at Rs 294 crore outlay, 100 acres in Bhimsen, for industry-specific clusters. EV Park with Rs 700 crore, 500 acres will focus on electric vehicle manufacturing.
The KDA engineering department will prepare development outlines and cost estimates. Dr Ravi Pratap Singh will lead the Knowledge Park, while Ajay Kumar will oversee other schemes.
