The Ghaziabad Development Authority's (GDA) Board has decided that its jurisdiction will be divided into 15 zones under the proposed Master Plan 2031, currently awaiting state government approval.
The plan covers Ghaziabad, Loni, and Modinagar/Muradnagar, transitioning from the 2021 plan, with eight zones designated for Ghaziabad, three for Loni, and four for Modinagar/Muradnagar. Zonal plans, focusing on micro-level infrastructure and facilities, will be prepared by hired consultants as mandated by the UP Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973.
However, the GDA deferred a proposal requiring structural audits of high-rise buildings every three years, pending further review. A master plan is a broad layout of a city and clearly lays out different areas as per land uses, such as residential, commercial and others, while the zonal plan is a micro plan for each zone and contains information about provisions for social infrastructure, facilities, parks, open spaces, aiming at planned development.
