Hong Kong-based JB Group is entering
the hospitality sector in India with projects in Goa and Bangalore.
Some locations have already been
identified and the company is now scouting for partners for the proposed
venture. In Goa, the company is in the process of developing a hotel project,
which includes a resort and holiday villas. The Rs.1,200 crore project includes
a 260 room resort with beach frontage to be developed in association with Accor
Hotels and will be operated under the 'Sofitel'. The Goa project also includes
240 premium villas to be operated under the `Accor Premiere Vacation Club' brand
and a marina to be developed in association with Island Global Yachting.
The company is also setting up a steel
plant in South India, and will put up an aluminium plant and a methanol
refinery. It is in the process of acquiring few iron ore and bauxite mining
blocks in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
