The Jaipur Metro Phase 2 project has moved ahead with the submission of the draft detailed project report (DPR) by RITES, according to a Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) official. RITES was awarded a contract in November to prepare and review the DPR.

“Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team have already reviewed the draft and provided suggestions regarding the route and station locations,” the official said. The final version of the DPR will incorporate these suggestions before being submitted to the Union government. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to follow for the project’s construction, with tenders to be invited only after the MoU is signed.

As per the draft DPR, Phase 2 will span a 40-km corridor from Sitapura to Sikar Road, featuring 35 stations - 34 elevated and one underground. The project is estimated to cost over Rs 10,000 crore and aims to serve approx. 2.5 million commuters upon completion.

During a recent review meeting, Chief Minister Sharma emphasised the strategic placement of stations in Sitapura, Ambabari, and Vidyadhar Nagar, keeping in mind public convenience and future urban development.
