Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase-2, paving the way for one of the state's largest urban transport expansions.
The project, covering 42.80 km from Todi Mode to Prahladpura, will be taken up by the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation (RMRC), - a joint venture between the state and Central government. Construction will commence once the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gives its approval.
Estimated to cost Rs 12,260 crore (Rs 122.60 billion), the Metro extension will feature 36 stations, including two underground, and will be funded partly through loans from financial institutions. The corridor aims to boost urban mobility by linking major residential, commercial, educational, and industrial zones across Jaipur, such as Mansarovar, Durgapura, and the Sitapura Industrial Area.
The project was originally announced in the Rajasthan Budget 2025–26 and is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and improve access to key city zones. RMRC will manage both the ongoing and future development of Jaipur's metro network.
