The Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar International Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar, is nearing completion with one runway and a terminal ready for initial operations. Spanning 1,334 hectares, the airport is being developed by Zurich International Airport AG and executed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). It marks India’s first 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) aviation project.
Upon full development, Jewar Airport will feature six runways and six terminals, with a projected annual passenger capacity of 225 million. This is a major expansion compared to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is already saturated at 80 million passengers annually. Strategically located 700 mtrs. from the Yamuna Expressway, the airport will be linked to several key highways, including the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Lucknow–Agra Expressway, Ganga Expressway, and Meerut–Prayagraj Expressway. Travel time from Jaipur will be just two hours and 21 minutes by road.
A rapid rail corridor, Noida Metro extension, and a personal rapid transit (PRT) system are underway to ensure seamless multimodal integration. YEIDA has acquired 6,000 hectares for the project without legal disputes or protests, a first-of-its-kind achievement in land acquisition, setting a national benchmark, according to the state government.
