The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has revised its rail overbridge (ROB) project at the Mothagaon level crossing in Dombivli, expanding it from two-lanes to four.
The upgrade, aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion, is expected to significantly cut travel time between Dombivli and Thane, reducing the current one-hour commute to just 25 minutes. With an estimated cost of Rs 170 crore, the project will be executed in collaboration with the Railways. The KDMC has also allocated Rs 68 crore for compensating 600 families affected by the project.
The proposal has been submitted to the state government for funding approval. Once completed, the new ROB will provide major relief to daily commuters in the region.
