The Karnataka government has approved Karnataka Power
Corporation's proposal to prepare detailed project reports for setting up six thermal power stations with
combined capacity of 4,000 MW, together costing Rs.17,000 crore.
KPC has proposed to construct 1,000 MW plants each at Koodgi in Bijapur and Kaushika in Hassan, 500 MW capacity plants at Raichur,
Nandura at Gulbarga, Chamalapura in Mysore and Ghataprabha in Belgaum.
The company has requested the centre
to allocate coal for these projects proposed to be implemented in a period of
four years.
