Kaynes Circuits India plans to invest Rs 4,995 crore to establish an electronic components manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The plant will produce 74-layer PCBs, HDI PCBs, flexible PCBs, high-performance laminates, camera module assemblies, and wire harness assemblies. Marking Tamil Nadu’s first major PCB manufacturing investment, the project aligns with the state’s strategy to create a new electronics manufacturing cluster in Thoothukudi, complementing its established hubs in Sriperumbudur and Hosur.
Located near the upcoming VinFast EV manufacturing plant, the Kaynes unit is expected to generate around 4,700 employment opportunities in Thoothukudi and neighbouring districts. The project will also benefit from the Rs 22,919-crore electronics component manufacturing scheme, aimed at boosting domestic production of critical components like PCBs, Li-ion cells, and passive elements. The investment is positioned to strengthen India’s electronics value chain and enhance its global competitiveness.
