On 04 February, 2026, the Kerala Cabinet approved the acquisition of 60 acres of land next to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) to establish the Aerospace Control Systems Centre under the Kerala SpacePark (KSpace).
A total of Rs 600 crore has been allocated for this land acquisition through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), in line with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act. The Cabinet has directed that KSpace be appointed as the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the acquisition process, with the CEO of KSpace serving as the requisitioning authority.
KSpace is a Kerala government initiative aimed at fostering industrial growth in space, aviation, and defence sectors. The project aims to develop Kerala into a key hub for these industries, creating significant employment opportunities in the region. As part of this vision, the establishment of the Aerospace Control Systems Centre is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the state’s space and technology capabilities.
