The Kerala government has granted administrative sanction for constructing a non-Special Economic Zone (non-SEZ) IT building within Phase I of Infopark Kochi.
The proposed 1.90 lakh sq. ft facility will be developed on 88 cents of land, with an estimated cost of Rs 118.33 crore. Funding will come from Infopark’s internal resources and a bank term loan, according to the Chief Minister’s Office. This move is aimed at addressing the space shortage in the park, which currently has over 100 companies on the waiting list. Additionally, the government is progressing with plans for Phase III of Infopark, envisioned as Kerala’s first Integrated AI Township.
Spread over 300 acres in Ernakulam, it will include 100 acres for IT development. The project, expected to attract Rs 25,000 crore in investment and generate two lakh direct employment, will use a land pooling model under the Kerala Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Act. Landowners with eligible plot sizes may participate, and consent from at least 75 percent is required to proceed with final scheme notifications.
