Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major contract from Hindustan Zinc for the design, engineering, procurement, and complete site services, as part of its integrated smelter unit with a capacity of 2,50,000 tonne per annum (250 KTPA) at Debari in Udaipur district, Rajasthan.

The work scope includes installation and commissioning, of facilities for calcine storage, leaching, purification, and electrowinning (Jumbo Cell House). It also covers key auxiliaries such as utilities, effluent treatment plant (ETP) with reverse osmosis and zero liquid discharge (RO-ZLD) systems, plant electrics, instrumentation, and automation solutions. This comprehensive package aims to ensure operational efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with environmental norms.

The contract value is estimated in the range of Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore, underscoring L&T’s strong position in executing large-scale industrial projects. Once completed, the facility will significantly enhance Hindustan Zinc’s refining capabilities and production output, strengthening its market leadership in the zinc sector.
