Engineering major Larsen & Toubro has secured a contract from the government for construction of a new AIIMS building at Rewari, Haryana. The order has been bagged by the buildings and factories vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction from HITES, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The scope of work includes civil structure, finishes and allied MEP services, including built-in furniture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of medical gas piping, modular OT, penumatic tube system, nurse call system, central sterllite supply department and external department works, including landscaping. The 1.5 million sq. ft. facility will include a 720-bed teaching hospital, 30-bed AYUSH hospital, 500-seat auditorium, hostel, residential facilities, and wil have annual intake of 100 students at its medical and nursing colleges.

The work is to be executed within stringent timelines. The order fall under 'significant' category which ranges between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.
