Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Renewables business has secured a significant EPC order to develop a 116 MWac grid-connected Solar PV plant integrated with a 241 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Kajra, Lakhisarai district, Bihar.
This project expands the site’s total co-located storage capacity to 495 MWh, marking it as India’s largest energy storage site co-located with solar energy generation. The four-hour BESS will facilitate energy time-shifting, storing surplus solar energy for dispatch during peak demand. Featuring advanced liquid cooling technology, the BESS promises higher power density, improved safety, and extended operational life.
This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s drive for renewable energy storage systems and supports Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, fostering employment and long-term energy security. Previously, L&T Renewables had secured a 275 MW Solar PV EPC order in Gujarat, enhancing its clean energy portfolio. L&T has maintained leadership in EPC projects and services for over eight decades through quality-focused operations.
