The district administration has initiated the land acquisition process for the PMRDA Ring Road project to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
As an incentive, Collector Jitendra Dudi announced a 25 percent bonus for landowners who voluntarily surrender their land under the Land Acquisition Act. A joint survey will be conducted in March-April to assess beneficiaries.
"If the land is given voluntarily, landowners will receive two-and-a-half times the total compensation amount according to the act...This approach will accelerate the ring road development, while ensuring fair compensation for landowners," he stated.
The 77.4-km, 65-mtrs.-wide ring road requires approx. 743.41 hectares, including government, forest, defence, PMC-transferred, and private land. Officials aim to complete land acquisition for the first and second phases by May. Much of the land is already designated as non-agricultural, easing the process.
The project is a collaboration between PMRDA and MSRDC to support the region's transportation needs. The Pune Collector led a meeting attended by key officials, including land acquisition officer Kalyan Pandhare and PMRDA Superintendent Engineer Ashok Bhalkar.
